Terms of Service

Last updated March 30, 2026.

Agreement

By using Selah you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Selah is operated by Cody Jo (“we,” “us,” “our”). These terms govern your use of Selah at selahscripture.com and any related services.

Eligibility

You must meet the current minimum age shown during registration to create an account. Selah uses a minimal self-attestation step rather than invasive age verification.

If we learn that someone below that threshold created an account inappropriately, we will review and delete it where required.

What Selah provides

Selah is a Scripture reading and study app. Features include daily verse reading, AI-guided study, journaling, bookmarks, reading plans, and related tools for personal reflection.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice for changes that materially affect your experience.

Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • One account per person. Do not share account access.
  • You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Account deletion is permanent.

Free and premium tiers

Selah offers a free tier and a premium tier. The free tier includes core reading, study, and basic journaling features. Premium features include AI-guided study, encrypted journals, and advanced insights.

Free tier features are available at no cost indefinitely. Premium features require an active subscription. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Selah for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service, other accounts, or related systems.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from Selah beyond normal personal use.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or impose an unreasonable load on infrastructure.
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or harmful content.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Selah or its content without prior written permission.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you create in Selah, including journal entries, reflections, and notes.

We do not claim rights over your personal content. We access it only to provide and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Encrypted journal entries are stored in a form we cannot read. You are responsible for keeping your encryption recovery codes safe.

Bible text and third-party content

Bible text displayed in Selah is sourced from third-party providers (API.Bible, Bolls.life) and is subject to the copyright and licensing terms of each translation.

AI-generated study commentary is provided by Anthropic and is intended as a study aid, not as authoritative theological interpretation.

Availability and warranties

Selah is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available and your data safe, but we are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or damages arising from your use of Selah.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Selah is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50, whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of Selah after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Selah logs the active privacy-policy and terms versions at sign-up and at subscription checkout so account and billing events can be tied to the policy set active at that time.

Termination

You may stop using Selah at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service.

On termination, you may export your data through Settings before account deletion.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
